Looking Ahead in 2023

Goodbye 2022. We won't miss the shortage of components and lack of various in-demand bike styles. We won't miss the oversupply of certain mainstream bike styles that people already had and didn't want more. We hope your local bike shop made it through OK, with the least amount of pain possible.

Hello 2023! The good news is that materials sourcing, manufacturing, and bicycle supply lines in general are continuing to slowly improve. We're also seeing an uptick in bike riders. It looks like many of the new riders that hopped on a bike for their first time in years (during covid) are still at it. Turns out bikes are fun! Not to mention a solid source of transportation, thanks in part to a continuing increase in bicycle infrastructure. And of course it's just great exercise. Sorry boring treadmills and stationary bikes…nothing beats the real thing.

For our part, we're going to continue our focus on bike frames, which allows dealers to customize our bamboo bikes to meet the exact needs of their local customers. This also allows us to keep our prices low so that bike shops can earn sustainable margins, and their customers can get great bargains.

This year we'll start looking into offering component kits. We'll begin negotiating with various component manufacturers and suppliers to bring you an on-demand bike build system. This would allow bike shops to offer Greenstar bamboo bikes without clogging up their inventory. If we can make it work, bike shops could order a frame and a matching set of components for whatever build their customer wants: road, mountain, commuter, gravel, etc.. Fingers crossed!

And of course we'll continue to offer complete bikes to dealers that order 100 or more units. Just select your styles and build types, and we'll source the necessary components. Overall, 2023 looks like it's headed in the right direction!
