Bamboo in 2022
/What to expect for this coming year? First, thank you to all the riders and retailers that helped us remain successful during these trying times. Logistical challenges, supply line woes, and material shortages have hit many industries hard, and bamboo bikes are no exception.
Luckily, there is no shortage of bamboo! It’s a fast growing, naturally replenishing resource that requires no fertilizers, pesticides, or expensive farming machinery.
Not so lucky, components are still hard to get. The big bike manufacturers are at the front of the line. Literally. They have trucks lined up at all the major component manufacturing plants in China, Taiwan, and other countries.
We will do our best to bob and weave in order to get around the big bike companies wall of power. But just in case we are not as mighty as we hope, we have two plans in place:
For our customers that prefer to buy in small orders, we will continue to manufacture bamboo aluminum framesets. We’re also looking into the feasibility of sourcing wheelsets and other component sets from strategic suppliers on an ala-carte type system.
For our customers that buy in lots of 100 or more, we will continue to reserve and creatively source the necessary components.
